31 October 2011 - Darlene and Stuart getting ready to enjoy "una Sangria grande" along La Rambla in Barcelona after dinner with friends John and Sharon Eash. (yes, it was muy bueno!)
01 November 2011 - Stuart and Darlene are hungry for lunch at Restaurant bacco above La Rambla (notice the second 'c' that's painted backwards in the window)
01 November - After cream of pumpkin and corn soup with crunchy leeks, Darlene had Monkfish Carpaccio. She's still curious: "What are those little black things?"
01 November - I had the same delicious soup, followed by a standard Veal Carpaccio with aromatic herbs and Parmesan cheese. I added olive oil and some vinegar for additional flavor.
01 November - Dessert was a white chocolate pyramid stuffed with raspberries; quite tasty. We thought the red berries on the plate would be sweet, but we were wrong; they were very tart!
01 November - Darlene sitting on the balcony in the lobby of Hotel Continental Barcelona overlooking La Rambla.
01 November - Stuart enjoying a beer on the lobby balcony. That's La Rambla that you see below; and oh, yes, the beer and wine are free here are the hotel. So is the wifi; 24-hour buffet. It's a nice place!
01 November - Darlene is standing in the northern part of the Placa de Catalunya. According to guidebooks, this is the center of the world for 7 million Catalan people; good thing they're not all here at once!
02 November - Darlene and Stuart in the basement of Palau (Palace) Guell built by Antoni Gaudi in Barcelona. This is where the horses were kept.
03 November - On our last day in Barcelona, we walked from our hotel to the museu de la xocolata, the chocolate museum (read about it in the blog on the left). It was a fun way to end our stay in Barcelona.
04 November - Our first night at sea also meant our first Formal Night. We had dinner with friends John and Sharon (who took this picture).
05 November - from the port of Civitavecchia, Italy, we went to the town of Anguillara that sits on Lake Bracchiano
05 November - after visiting Lake Bracchiano, we stopped for wine tasting, where Darlene talked with Jan who had said she was from Michigan. Jan and Bill Slowinski are both from Dar's hometown of Jackson, Michigan -- small world!!!
